FAQ

Export questions, answered

What products does Vimal Agro export?
We manufacture and export a full Indian food range under our SWAD brand: pickles, mango pulp and slices, chutneys, ready-to-eat meals in cans and retort pouches, cooking sauces, curry pastes, pappadums, basmati rice, canned vegetables, juice drinks, ketchup and jam, canned sweets, and nuts and seeds. Founded in 1975 and exporting under SWAD since 1988, we supply importers, distributors and foodservice operators in over 45 countries. Send us your category list and we will share specifications, pack sizes and availability.
Which markets do you already supply?
SWAD products are exported to more than 45 countries across North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Oceania, and are available in over 30,000 retail stores across India. That footprint means we are already familiar with the documentation and labelling expectations of many importing markets. If your country is not yet on our list, we would still be glad to discuss it.
What is your minimum order quantity?
Minimum order quantity varies by product category, pack format and destination — a retail-pack pickle programme and a bulk mango pulp programme have very different economics. Most buyers start with a trial order and scale to regular container shipments once the range is established in their market. Share your product list and destination country and our export team will confirm the MOQ that applies to your requirement.
Can I request samples before placing an order?
Yes. Samples can be arranged for quality and taste evaluation, subject to courier availability and the import conditions that apply to food samples in your country. Some destinations restrict certain categories or require documentation even for sample quantities, so let us know your location and the items you would like to assess. Our export team will confirm what can be sent and how quickly.
What export documentation do you provide with each shipment?
Every consignment ships with a commercial invoice, packing list, Certificate of Origin, health certificate, laboratory test reports and the Bill of Lading. A phytosanitary certificate is issued where the product and destination require one. If your customs authority or retail customer needs additional documents or a specific certificate format, tell us at the order stage and our export team will confirm what can be arranged for your market.
What food safety certifications does your facility hold?
Our manufacturing operations are certified to BRCGS and ISO 22000, and we hold Kosher certification. We are a Sedex member, supporting ethical and social compliance audits for retail customers, and we are recognised by the Government of India as a Star Export House. Current certificates and audit reports can be shared with your quality team on request.
How do you control and test quality?
Quality is managed under our BRCGS and ISO 22000 systems, covering raw material inspection, in-process checks and finished-product release. Batches are tested and coded so shipments can be traced, and laboratory test reports accompany export consignments. If your retail customer or import authority requires specific parameters or a particular testing protocol, share the specification and we will confirm what we can test and report against.
Do you offer private label or own-brand manufacturing?
Yes. Alongside our own SWAD brand, we manufacture under buyers' own labels for importers, distributors and retail chains. The usual process is product selection and sample approval, then artwork and label approval against your market's regulations, then a first production run. Private label minimums differ from standard SWAD orders and depend on the product and pack format, so our export team will confirm the quantities that apply to your programme.
Can you customise labels and language for my market?
Yes. Labelling requirements differ significantly between markets — the EU and the United States, for example, use different allergen lists and different nutrition declaration formats, and many markets require local-language text. We prepare artwork to the destination's requirements and work with your team on translations and market-specific declarations, with final approval of the label resting with you as the importer of record in your market. Send us your market's label specification and we will confirm what we can produce.
Can I combine several product categories in one container?
Yes. Buyers commonly consolidate a mixed load — pickles, chutneys, ready-to-eat pouches, sauces and canned lines together — in a single container, which reduces freight cost and simplifies procurement from one supplier. Mixing is possible for products with compatible storage and handling requirements, and the final load plan depends on carton dimensions, weights and the volume of each item. Send us your intended SKU mix and our export team will build a load plan for your container.
What pack formats are available — retail, foodservice or bulk?
Our products are produced in retail consumer packs as well as larger formats suited to catering and foodservice, and several categories are offered in institutional formats for foodservice and repacking buyers. The formats available differ by product, and not every item is offered in every size. Tell us your channel — retail shelf, foodservice kitchen, or industrial ingredient use — and we will share the pack options for the products you need.
What is the shelf life of your products, and how should they be stored?
Shelf life differs by category and pack format — canned and retort-pouch products, tinned pulp, and glass-packed pickles and chutneys are each different. All products are ambient-stable and should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, with opened packs refrigerated. Every batch carries production and best-before coding, and we will confirm the exact declared shelf life for each product you are considering.
What shipping terms and Incoterms do you work with?
We quote on the Incoterm you prefer. FOB and CIF are the terms most commonly used in Indian food exports, and other terms can be discussed depending on your logistics arrangements and destination. The Incoterm affects where our responsibility ends and how freight and insurance are priced, so it is worth confirming early. Tell us your preferred term and discharge port and we will quote accordingly.
What payment terms do you accept?
International food trade is commonly settled by Letter of Credit, advance telegraphic transfer, or documentary collection, with terms usually opening more flexibly as a trading relationship becomes established. The arrangement we can offer depends on the order value, destination and whether we have traded together before. Our export team will discuss and confirm payment terms with you before the order is finalised.
How long does an order take from confirmation to shipment?
Lead time depends on the product mix, whether items are standard SWAD packs or private-label production, and any seasonal factors — mango-based items, for example, follow the fruit season. Private-label orders also include artwork and label approval before production begins. Once we have your confirmed order list and destination, our export team will give you a realistic production and shipment schedule.
How can I become a distributor for SWAD in my country?
We work with importers, distributors and retail and foodservice partners, and we are open to appointing new partners in markets where we are under-represented. To assess a partnership, it helps to know your market, the retail or foodservice channels you serve, your import and food-business licensing status, and the categories you would like to start with. Send those details through our enquiry form and our export team will come back to you.
Are your products vegetarian, and what dietary certifications do you hold?
Our range is built around vegetarian Indian cuisine — pickles, chutneys, fruit pulp, vegetable and lentil-based ready meals, sauces and pastes — and we hold Kosher certification for our operations. Ingredient declarations, allergen information and the applicable certification status are confirmed per product, since these vary by recipe. If your market requires a specific dietary certification or claim, please raise it with our export team and we will confirm exactly what applies to the products you are considering.
How do I get a quotation?
Send us your product list, required pack sizes, approximate quantities, destination country and discharge port, and your preferred Incoterm. With those details our export team can revert with pricing, MOQ, lead time and shipping options in a single response, rather than several rounds of questions. If you are still shortlisting suppliers, a shortlist of categories and your destination is enough to start the conversation.
